Future Farmers of Yorkshire has appointed South Yorkshire farmer and social media personality Joe Seels as its new Chair.
Known for his daily YouTube and TikTok videos about farming life, Joe will lead the group for the next three years, guiding its network of farmers, vets, and industry professionals across Yorkshire and beyond.
Joe will begin his term by overseeing a series of skills workshops at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate this autumn.
These include the new G.R.I.P. (Goals, Reality, Insights, Planning) sessions, delivered by Amy Hughes of EmpowerAg on 16 October and 4 November, designed to help farmers take control of their farm business through step-by-step planning.
A second course, Pathways to Farm Entry, on 23 October and 6 November, will support those looking to start a career in farming, covering topics such as farm tenancies, shared farming, and contracting opportunities.
New Chair of Future Farmers of Yorkshire, Joe said:
“I’m really excited to be taking on the role of Chair of Future Farmers of Yorkshire.
“Being part of the group has opened doors for me and helped me make invaluable connections across the industry.
“I want to make sure more people can benefit in the same way, whether that’s through training, mentoring or meeting like-minded people.
“The upcoming workshops are a brilliant opportunity and open to everyone, so I’d encourage anyone in or connected to farming to get involved.”
Joe will lead the group’s Management Board, working with the Yorkshire Agricultural Society to deliver a year-round programme of support, including bursaries for major agricultural events, a mentorship scheme, knowledge exchange opportunities, topical events, and networking for industry professionals of all ages and experience levels.
He succeeds fellow South Yorkshire farmer Nick Grayson, who completed a three-year term during which the group launched its Mentorship Scheme, a WhatsApp community for members, farmer-focused mental health training, visits to the Houses of Parliament, talks with Farming Ministers, and fundraising for charities such as RABI and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

“I’d like to thank Nick Grayson for his excellent leadership over the past three years.
“He’s left the group in a very strong position, and I’m looking forward to building on that with the management board, and the Yorkshire Agricultural Society.”
Future Farmers of Yorkshire will host an Autumn Debate at the Great Yorkshire Showground on Wednesday 29th October in collaboration with the Yorkshire Agricultural Society’s Farmer Scientist Network.
