Police are appealing for witnesses following a dog bite incident in Harrogate.
It occurred on Wetherby Road on Monday 6th April at approximately 9.30am.
A resident was jogging along Wetherby Road when a medium‑sized brown dog, described as having a “pit‑bull‑type face”, suddenly emerged from a hedge and bit them on the left hip.
The dog was on a lead at the time and accompanied by a white female, believed to be around 50 years old, of slight build, with short blond hair.
She was wearing jogging bottoms and a thin puffer jacket.
Police are appealing for the woman who was with the dog at the time of the incident to come forward, as well as the member of the public who stopped to assist and anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the dog and its owner in the area around that time.
Residents with CCTV, dash‑cam, or doorbell footage recorded on Wetherby Road between 9.20am and 9.40am on 6 April 2026 are also urged to contact police.
