Julian Smith, Ripon MP attended the opening of SIBA headquarters last Wednesday.
SIBA is the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates.
The new premises on Dallamires Lane were formally launched during a visit that included a tour of the facility and discussions on the future of independent brewing in the UK.
SIBA represents around 750 independent breweries across the UK.
The organisation works to promote quality, sustainability, and innovation in British brewing.
Topics covered included the sector’s growth, its contribution to the economy, and issues facing brewers ahead of the Budget.
Julian Smith spoke out on the opening.
“Independent brewers are a cornerstone of our local and national economy, and I am proud that Ripon is now home to an organisation supporting them.
“I look forward to seeing SIBA continue to champion the best of British beer.”
The new office will serve as a hub for SIBA’s operations, bringing together staff and resources to support members and partners across the country.
Andy Slee, SIBA’s Chief Executive, welcomed the move and emphasised the role of the headquarters in supporting the sector.
“Sir Julian has been a keen supporter of our industry for many years.
“It was great to welcome him to our new office in Ripon and share with him the opportunities and challenges facing Britain’s independent brewing sector.
"We know we have a friend in Westminster.”
Andy noted the importance of political engagement in highlighting both opportunities and challenges facing small brewers.
One of its recent initiatives is the Indie Beer campaign, which encourages consumers to choose beer from independent breweries.
The campaign has been adopted by almost 650 brewers nationwide, many of whom now carry the Indie Beer mark on their packaging.
