A Harrogate woman will feature in the new series of Channel 4's hit show Hunted, which returns to screens this weekend.
Emma Brock, a 38-year-old business owner from Harrogate, will appear alongside her sister Jenni as one of 14 contestants taking part in the eighth season of the reality competition, which challenges ordinary people to go on the run and avoid capture for 21 days in a bid to win £100,000.
It will air at 9pm on Sunday (12th October).
Although she runs her own wedding stationery business in Harrogate, Emma said it was becoming a new mum to baby Freddie that helped motivate her to take on the challenge.
She said:
“I’ve always wanted to go on Hunted; I’m such a big fan of the show.
“I just thought it'd be a really unique experience and something that would be really great to do with Jenni actually.”
Her sister Jenni, 34, who works as a prison officer and still lives in Barnsley, admitted she hadn’t seen the programme before applying.
She said:
“I’d never seen the show, so I just said yes to applying, thinking there's no way that me and Emma are going to get on the show. But then we did.”
The new series marks the tenth anniversary of Hunted and introduces a fresh twist.
The fugitives begin their escape from Stansted Airport, where their every move is tracked by facial recognition cameras before they attempt to stay hidden from Chief Ray Howard and his team of expert hunters.
Emma said that while the £100,000 prize initially felt significant, her perspective shifted once the challenge began:
“I think initially, before we set off, the prize money was massive to me because I had a six-month-old baby, and I wanted to come home with something that would set him up for life.
“But actually, I think when we then started on the road, the prize money just wasn't in part of it, for me personally.
“It would have been lovely, don't get me wrong, but it was about the experience.”
Reflecting on her time on the show, Emma said she was struck by the generosity of strangers they met along the way.
She added:
“I think what surprised me the most is how kind people were. Everyone we met was so lovely.
“And I think that was a massive shock, I never expected that you could just go up to someone in a car park and that you'd end up staying at their house, and they’d feed you and do your washing and be so accommodating and so lovely.”
Hunted airs on Channel 4 on Sunday 12th October at 9pm.
