Police stop Harrogate driver with 'more cracks than glass' on windscreen Harrogate police ‘cracked’ down on one Harrogate driver during an operation on Tuesday (19th March). The offending motorist was stopped in Beckwithshaw with a windscreen that officers said had “more cracks than glass.” Police were working with the DVSA to identify unsafe vehicles as part of a wider operation. Sgt Paul Cording from North Yorkshire Police said:
“In total the vehicle had 11 defects that were so serious, each on its own could have qualified for a prohibition. “We issued an immediate prohibition notice on it and the driver is being dealt with.”Sgt Cording added:
“Thankfully we don't often see windscreens this bad. “But there's a lot of muck on the roads at the moment, and even dirt can impair your view - especially with low sun at this time of year.”Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
