A Harrogate teacher and actress has today (Friday) released her debut children’s novel, Miss Influential.
Published by Fisher King Publishing, Sarah Day’s book, Miss Influential, is now available worldwide in print and digital formats, with an audiobook version planned for 2026.
Aimed at readers aged 9–12, Miss Influential follows Amberley-Jayne, who moves from her quiet Yorkshire village to a high-pressure London school where social status rules.
After a single post sends her online persona “AJintheCity” viral, she is suddenly thrust into the world of internet fame.
As real life and the online world begin to blur, the story explores themes of identity, friendship, and the impact of social media on young people.
Sarah, who teaches drama, singing and dance to children and teenagers in Harrogate, said her work with young performers helped shape the novel.
She said:
“I wanted to write a story that captures the humour, heart, and challenges of growing up in the digital age.”
Alongside teaching, Sarah has built a varied career on stage and screen, appearing in productions including the original cast of Calendar Girls: The Musical and Singin’ in the Rain, as well as television roles such as BBC’s Doctors.
She has also worked behind the scenes on script teams for major West End musicals including The Devil Wears Prada and Burlesque.
She is now developing Miss Influential into a musical.
Sarah runs DayByDay Productions, whose short films have been screened at festivals worldwide.
