A Harrogate primary school has unveiled a new Cherry Blossom ‘nurture room’ - a calm space to support pupils' wellbeing.
Hookstone Chase Primary School has designed the room to offer a “sanctuary” for children who may need extra support during the school day.
It will provide a consistent, nurturing environment where pupils can feel safe, listened to, and encouraged.
Cherry Blossom will aim to enhance the school’s existing one-to-one and group pastoral interventions, helping children build confidence, develop resilience, and thrive emotionally.
The design for Cherry Blossom was inspired by the creativity of 11-year-old pupil Declan Wilson.

The project was made possible thanks to grants from the Johnson & Mukherjee Brothers Charitable Trust and The Liz and Terry Bramall Foundation, as well as the efforts of the school’s parent community, who donated their time, skills, and energy to bring the vision to life.
Melissa Lee, Safeguarding and Families Lead at Hookstone Chase, said:
“This has been a true team effort.
"The nurture room is a calm and comforting space where children feel safe to express themselves and be heard.
“Thanks to the support of our families, we’ve created an environment that promotes emotional growth, builds trust, and helps children develop the confidence they need to flourish.
“We know it will have a lasting impact.”
The initiative reflects the school’s ongoing commitment to nurturing the whole child.
