A chef from Harrogate showcased his culinary skills on national television as he competed in the latest series of MasterChef: The Professionals last night (Tuesday).
Terry Davies, 38, who has worked as a chef at the West Park Hotel in Harrogate, appeared in the first heat of the 18th series of the BBC One programme.
The competition will see 32 chefs from across the UK take part, each hoping to impress the judges and progress through the rounds.
The contestants are assessed by Marcus Wareing, Monica Galetti and Matt Tebbutt as they compete for the MasterChef: The Professionals trophy.

Terry prepared Venison in the first challenge but struggled with nerves, according to judges.
He bounced back with a lamb dish in the next challenge, which impressed judges with its presentation and flavour - although his sauce was labelled “overpowering.”
Of the four competing chefs, two progressed to the quarter finals, but unfortunately Terry missed out.
He said:
“The pressure isn’t what I was expecting to be honest. It’s a tough competition isn’t it?
“If it wasn’t for my nerves, I probably would have been a bit more relaxed, but I’m happy with how I’ve done.”
Originally from Rock Ferry in Wirral, Terry began his career at the Village Hotel in Bromborough.
During his career, he has also worked at The Talbot Hotel in Malton, where he spent time learning alongside television chef James Martin. He currently lives in York with his wife and their son.
