Thug Sandwich in Harrogate town centre has been placed up for sale.
Daniel Bell, owner of the popular lunchtime takeaway, said it has been a “hard decision” and that he is “truly heartbroken”.
He said he felt the shop was no longer sustainable for him personally, after working six-days a week for over six years.
The business has been placed up for sale with Ernest Wilson.
In a statement on social media, Daniel said:
“I am truly heartbroken to close the chapter on the biggest risk I’ve taken in my life.
Unfortunately, working six days a week for well over six years now, along with the toll of running a very busy small business, has reached a point where I feel like it’s no longer sustainable for me.
“Hopefully, someone is willing to take the reins and take Thug into chapter 2.”
The takeaway first opened on Albert Street in 2018 and has been a staple of the Harrogate lunchtime scene ever since.
It was visited by YouTuber Danny Malin, AKA Rate My Takeaway, for his 750,000+ subscribers in 2022.
Danny showcased the Thug menu in a video that now has 463,000 views.
