A team of well-known Harrogate figures and community leaders will be facing 'time behind bars' in aid of Harrogate Theatre next week.
The 'Jail and Bail' event will see the team of well-known Harrogate figures locked up and only released if they meet a fundraising target.
Volunteers will be doing ‘porridge’ for their entirely fictitious crimes at Harrogate Theatre on Monday (23rd February) and will have two hours hours to come up with their bail to ensure release.
During the event, they will have their mugshots taken, spend time in the exercise yard and most importantly, try to raise as much money as possible to secure their release.
Adam Daniel, Managing Director at Your Harrogate, said:
“We’re absolutely delighted to be teaming up with Harrogate Theatre for Jail and Bail. It’s a brilliant way to bring the community together, have a lot of fun and, most importantly, raise vital funds for such an important local venue.
“We’ve got some fantastic Harrogate characters taking part who are all great sports, and we’re looking forward to seeing if they can raise enough ‘bail’ to secure their freedom."
Natalie Rawel, Head of Marketing and Development at Harrogate Theatre, said:
“We’re really excited and thankful to be working with Your Harrogate on this fantastic event. Supporting Harrogate Theatre has never been more important. Following recent funding cuts, every single contribution makes a real difference.
"What many people don’t realise is that for each show we stage, we receive only around 20% of the ticket income. That unfortunately isn’t enough to sustain the breadth of work we do or to cover everything involved in keeping our historic building open and thriving for the community.
"Every pound of support helps safeguard the future of Harrogate Theatre and we are so grateful to all those who support us."
You can support the fundraising at https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/jail-and-bail or text HARROGATE to 70450 to donate £5.
