Homebuyers are moving more than 60 miles to live in Harrogate, according to a new study.
Data from homebuilder Redrow shows that more than a third (around 36%) of homebuyers moving to its Kingsley Manor development on Kingsley Road over the past year are moving more than 60 miles.
The scenic town is proving to be a popular choice thanks to its great offering of shopping, restaurants, schools and commuter links.
Steve Jackson, sales director at Redrow Yorkshire, said:
“Harrogate is a popular choice with people looking to relocate to a new area.
“We’ve seen from our own buyers at Kingsley Manor, that a third of them are moving here from more than 60 miles away and the majority are coming from more than 16 miles away, so that’s a significant distance. It’s certainly much less of a local market than we see at many of our developments."
He added:
“It’s no surprise people are drawn to Harrogate. The town offers so much and the sense of community is truly unmatched.
"Residents enjoy a calendar full of events, from the festive Christmas light switch-on to the much-loved annual Christmas fayre, both of which are highlights for locals.
"And it also comes alive throughout the spring and summer with culture, plus there’s so much green space to enjoy here, including within our development and nearby at The Stray.”
Regularly found on “best places to live” lists, Harrogate also has a strong property market and prices are up 2% year on year, according to Rightmove*.
Redrow is currently building 133 new homes at the award-winning Kingsley Manor development.
This includes a selection of three, four and five-bedroom homes all hailing from the homebuilder’s Arts and Crafts inspired Heritage Collection.
Once completed, the development will also feature green space, play areas and cycle and footpaths linking to neighbouring developments, local facilities and into the town centre.
The development is one of a new generation of cycle-friendly luxury developments, highlighted in this recent drone footage, which appeals to commuters looking to leave the car behind and avoid the traffic.
