DIY retailer Wickes has submitted plans to open a new store in Harrogate.
The US-owned company is aiming to open in Plantation House on Ripon Road - the unit currently occupied by Magnet.
Plans include refurbishing the building, as well as extending and altering the mezzanine floor.
A planning statement said:
“The refurbished building will have a modern finish that is complementary with the design currently situated on Site, providing a functional yet clean appearance that will fit comfortably in relation to its commercial surroundings.”
Planning documents state the proposed use would be similar to the building’s current lawful use by Magnet and therefore appropriate for the area.
Wickes is the UK’s second-largest home improvement retailer behind B&Q and already has stores in locations including York, Leeds and Shipley.
North Yorkshire Council has not yet made a decision on the application.
