A Harrogate woman is walking 200 kilometres this month to raise money for brain tumour research in memory of her father.
Pippa Game is taking on the “200k in May Your Way” challenge following the death of her dad, Richard, in November 2022 after he was diagnosed with an aggressive grade four Glioblastoma.
Pippa said her father first began showing symptoms including loss of movement on the right side of his body, personality changes, severe headaches and confusion before he attended hospital in Harrogate.
He was diagnosed in January 2022 and underwent four brain surgeries in a short period of time, including tumour removals and operations to remove abscesses caused by severe infection.

He also received intensive radiotherapy treatment after doctors worked to ensure he was infection free before it could begin.
Pippa said there were signs of improvement following the treatment, with her father regaining some independence and no longer needing a wheelchair or walking aid.
However, his condition later deteriorated rapidly and he was admitted back into hospital in September 2022, where he remained for the final weeks of his life.
Pippa told Your Harrogate:
"My dad fought a very difficult and physically demanding battle but unfortunately his cancer was just too strong and I lost my biggest supporter my hero my friend my dad.
"I want to spend awareness and help raise money for brain tumour research. I want to help make a difference, even if it's just for one person, or if someone is going through a similar situation to know they aren't alone."

Pippa says she hopes the challenge will help raise awareness of brain tumours and support others affected by similar experiences.
