Starbeck cafe hosts successful swap shop A cafe in Starbeck hosted a hugely successful swap shop on Friday (8th March). The Living Room Cafe on High Street gave visitors the opportunity to swap unloved items including clothes, bric o brac, books, furniture and toys. It was spearheaded by community champion and Living Room Manager Sarah Khanye and welcomed more than 50 visitors. And the event was able to raise £162, with 19 leftover bags and boxes donated to Yorkshire Cancer Research on Hornbeam Park. Sarah told Your Harrogate:
“The evening was buzzing with people filling their bags with goodies and chattering as they shared a hot chocolate or a slice of cake, or both! “The donations for swap shop were beyond our wildest dreams. “We had everything from books to bikes, from wine glasses to jumpers, and we have been able to reach even further by donating the leftovers to charity.”[caption id="attachment_103596" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] The Living Room Cafe's Swap Shop.[/caption] Sarah and the team plan to donate the £162 raised to a local charity.
