Five young cricketers from the Harrogate district are heading to Lord’s after helping MCC Foundation York Hub reach a national final.
James Barraclough and Sras Pahwa, from Bilton Cricket Club, Olly Moorcroft from Ripon Cricket Club, Harrish Mani from Harrogate Cricket Club and Riley Hirst from Birstwith Cricket Club are part of the York under-15 squad.
York booked their place in the final after victories over Norwich and North Newcastle and will face West Kent at Lord’s on September 5th.
Sras hit 52 from just 27 balls in the quarter-final against Norwich, while Olly scored 69 and Harrish added 24 as York made 197 from their 20 overs.
Norwich were then dismissed for 89, with James, Riley and Harrish among the wicket-takers.
In the semi-final, Harrish scored 54 to help York recover from 63-4 and post 171 against North Newcastle.
James then took three early wickets, while Riley claimed one and Harrish two as North Newcastle were bowled out for 120.
York are looking to retain the national title after winning the competition at under-16 level last year.
James is the only one of the five Harrogate district players young enough to return from last year's winning squad.
Sheffield's under-13 boys and Bradford's under-17 girls have also reached their respective finals at Lord’s.
