A new scam Facebook account impersonating Nick Hancock is targeting Your Harrogate's social media followers.
Scammers target Your Harrogate social media followers We've received a growing number of reports of a scam Facebook account that is targeting our social media followers. The account is impersonating Your Harrogate's Nick Hancock and is wrongly informing our followers that they have won a competition. This is false and an attempt to trick people into clicking on fraudulent links and giving away personal information, including bank details. Please do not engage with this account and both report and block it immediately. We are working with Facebook to have this account removed and reported to the relevant authorities. Unfortunately Facebook is currently unable to prevent these fraudsters from creating new accounts using personal photos and information from our staff members. But we ask our followers to stay vigilant until we are able to remove them completely. Please remember we would never ask our competition winners to give away any bank details or click on fraudulent links. Thank you for following Your Harrogate and we apologise for any inconvenience caused whilst we reach a solution. Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
