Rossett School has launched a £15,000 campaign to replace one of its ageing minibuses after it was taken out of service.
The Harrogate secondary school has unveiled the “Rossett 15” challenge in a bid to raise funds for a good-quality second-hand vehicle.
One of its current minibuses has reached the end of its working life and is no longer considered safe or reliable enough to use.
Headteacher Tim Milburn is leading the first of several fundraising challenges starting this half term.
In a letter to parents, he said:
“As many of you are aware, our minibuses are an integral part of Rossett life, enabling students to participate in sporting fixtures, competitions, school trips, enrichment activities and much more.
“Sadly, one of our minibuses has now reached the end of its working life and is no longer safe or reliable enough to use.
“We urgently need to replace it and hope to purchase a good-quality second- hand minibus as a replacement.”
Students will also play their part in the appeal. On the final day of term, the school will hold a non-uniform day, with a suggested minimum donation of £1.50.
A number of PTA-led events are planned to support the campaign, including a bingo night in March, a quiz night in May and an Auction of Promises in June 2026.
The school is inviting donations from the community, such as vouchers, hampers and services, to help boost fundraising efforts.
Mr Milburn added:
“Thank you for your ongoing support and I hope that together we can ensure that Rossett students continue to benefit from the opportunities and experiences our minibuses provide.”
