Young people from across the UK and overseas are set to take part in a national robotics competition being held in Harrogate next month.
The first Lego League National Final will take place on Saturday, 25th April at the Harrogate Convention Centre.
The event is being hosted by the Institution of Engineering and Technology and will bring together around 72 teams of students aged between 9 and 16.
Participants will compete in a series of challenges designed to test skills including robotics, coding, problem solving, teamwork and communication. The competition also includes presentations where teams showcase their research and design projects.
This year’s theme, UNEARTHED, focuses on archaeology, history and cultural preservation.
Teams have been tasked with developing ideas and robotic solutions inspired by exploring artefacts and uncovering historical stories.
Alongside UK finalists, teams from countries including Brazil, France and Kazakhstan are expected to take part.
The event will also feature a STEM exhibition, with interactive displays and a preview of a new “Future Edition” competition focusing on computer science and artificial intelligence, due to launch later this year.
The national final will be streamed live online, with opportunities for the public to follow the competition throughout the day.
