Knaresborough Town AFC has announced plans for a new 3G pitch at The Myrings Stadium.
The plans outline a major development aimed at increasing year-round access to sport and expanding the club’s role within the community.
According to the club’s joint chairmen, Paul Howard and Nigel Corner, the existing natural grass surface currently limits use to around six hours per week.
The proposed all-weather 3G facility is expected to increase availability to an estimated 42 hours per week, allowing more training sessions, matches and community programmes throughout the year.
The club says the project is intended to serve not only football teams but a wider range of users, creating a space designed to support residents of all ages and abilities.
Joint Chairmen Paul Howard and Nigel Corner said:
“Our goal is for Knaresborough Town AFC to become a genuine community base—a place where people can stay active, feel supported, develop new skills, volunteer, and belong.
“This new pitch will help reduce isolation, promote inclusivity, and create positive opportunities for everyone in the town, while also strengthening the club’s long-term future.”
They added:
“We are extremely proud of what our volunteers, players, and supporters have achieved together.
“Now, we’re asking for your help to take the next step. Whether through sponsorship, fundraising, sharing our story, or simply spreading the word—every contribution counts.”
The plans highlight several areas the new facility aims to address, including rural isolation, disability inclusion, opportunities for women and girls, health and wellbeing and early intervention programmes for young people.
The club is now seeking support from local residents and businesses to move the project forward, encouraging involvement through sponsorship, fundraising, and community engagement.
