The creators of Harrogate’s own Christmas song have launched an appeal for help.
'Merry Christmas Harrogate' (Feat. Harry Arnison, Harvey and Isabella Burns) is set to at the end of November and has been created with the aim of being Christmas number one.
It’s been co-ordinated by Harrogate hotelier Simon Cotton, Managing Director of the HRH Group, and recorded by local band The Straymen.
And although the song has already been written and recorded, the team are looking for help to produce the music video.
They’re in need of video footage of ‘snowy Harrogate’ - whether it’s been recorded on a smart phone or any other device.
In particular they’re looking for footage of snow angels, to match the lyric ‘snow angels made on acres of Stray.’
Speaking about ‘Merry Christmas Harrogate’, Simon Cotton said:
“It’s an earworm. I’ve played it to a few family and friends, by the second and third listen you can’t get it out of your head!
“It’s quite catchy, but it’s very personal about Harrogate as a town.
“It’s about Christmas, families, people coming together and being in Harrogate.
“I believe we’re the first town in the whole country to have its own Christmas song, so we’re breaking boundaries!”
The video footage can be 3-5 seconds long.
Those who can help are asked to email Simon Cotton on simon@hrhgroup.co.uk.
Speaking about the intention of reaching Christmas number one, Simon said:
“The hype at Christmas is around who’s going to get to number one in the charts and, it might be a bit farfetched, but I thought why not have a shot at it?
“A sausage roll song made it to number 1 a few years ago!”
