A long-established Harrogate business has been recognised as one of the UK's best independent shops.
Woods Fine Linen on Albert Row has won the Specialist Shop of the Year Award from House and Garden UK in recognition of its “contribution to the design landscape.”
The iconic shop, which has been owned by the same family in Harrogate since 1895, was one of just seven category winners.
Upon receiving the award, a spokesperson for Woods said:
“Thank you to House and Garden UK for recognising Woods as the winner of the independent shop of the year! What a way to finish the year!
“We share this success with every single customer who shops with us and supports us and the survival of the British textile industry. Thank you!”
The Woods family have been producers and suppliers of fine linen since 1733, first opening a shop in 1895.
The shop, now run by William Woods (the founder's grandson), has been called a “treasure trove of the finest table and bed linen from the very best European names and mills” as well as those exclusive to Woods.
Famous visitors to the shop in recent years include HRH Princess Royal and former Prime Minister Theresa May.
