Harrogate wins gold at Britain in Bloom Awards Harrogate BID’s dream of helping the town regain its floral crown is one step closer. The organisation won Gold in the 'BIDs, Town Centres and City Centres' category at the RHS Britain in Bloom awards. It's been recognised for its Harrogate Floral Summer of Celebration campaign. The fortnight-long campaign celebrated Harrogate’s international connections including Harrogate’s twinned towns; Luchon in France, Barrie in Canada, Wellington in New Zealand, Montecatini in Italy, alongside other prolific links that Harrogate has across the world. The Harrogate Floral Summer of Celebration was in addition to its regular floral offering of almost 200 barrier baskets, shop doorway planters and hanging baskets. Harrogate BID Manager, Matthew Chapman said:
“Three years ago this award was a huge aspiration of Harrogate BID and after winning Gold in last year’s Yorkshire in Bloom awards and then being entered as an RHS Britain in Bloom finalist, we are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded a gold award."Matthew added:
“This Summer's Harrogate Floral Summer of Celebration was the second year of the campaign and it was a huge success, increasing footfall, spend and first impressions with visitors and residents alike. "It celebrated the great international connections Harrogate holds as well as the town’s floral heritage that it is famed for through a series of unique displays. "I must pay special thanks to all the many organisations who supported Harrogate BID on this entry.”After the success of the recent 5 year ballot process Harrogate BID are already planning this and future 2024 campaigns alongside the upcoming Christmas activities.
