A charity padel event in Harrogate has raised more than £1,700 for two local good causes.
Participants and fundraisers headed to at Surge Padel on Sunday (29th March) for fundraising initiative, “Padel with Purpose”, raising £1,785 for two much-needed local charities.
The event saw teams compete in a fast-paced two-hour tournament, open to players of all abilities.
Funds raised will be split between non-for-profit care provider, Harrogate Neighbours and Saint Michael's Hospice, both of which provide vital support services for people across the Harrogate district.
Sue Cawthray, CEO of Harrogate Neighbours, said:
“Padel with Purpose has been a fantastic example of what can be achieved when the community comes together.
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who took part and supported the event. The funds raised will make a real difference to the people we support every day, and it was a joy to see so much energy and enthusiasm on the court for such an important cause.”
The event was described by many as a 'resounding success', with plans already being discussed for future collaborations.
Sophie Fisher, Partnership Executive at Saint Michael’s Hospice said:
“It was a brilliant afternoon enjoyed by all and we are so thankful to everyone involved in organising and supporting us.
“Every pound raised helps us continue to provide compassionate care and support for people and their families across our community, and we are deeply appreciative of this partnership.”
