Eleanor Dent who attends Harrogate Grammar School won top prize at the Rotary Club of Harrogate’s annual Young Chef Competition.
Eleanor made a Salmon en papillote with a Bruschetta Salsa and garlic potatoes followed by Vanilla Custard Tart with a Passion Fruit coulis.
Her dish narrowly beat the Durban chicken curry and lemon tart as cooked by Cameron Buchan from St. Aidans.
One of the judges, Matthew Wilkinson who is the Head of Kitchens at Rudding Park expressed his amazement at seeing such talented cooks.
The competition, which was open to Years 9 And 10 was hosted by Jade Williams at Harrogate Grammar School.
Rudding Park donated restaurant vouchers and offered the winner a day at Rudding working alongside their professional chefs.
Ann Percival, chair of Harrogate Rotary Club Youth Committee, who organised the competition said:
“Nothing brings people together more than food.
"There was a real buzz and excitement in the kitchens.
"The support from the schools, the food technology teachers, and the parents was fantastic and we look forward to next year’s competition.”
