Entries have opened for the Floral Shop Window Competition, inviting businesses across Harrogate town centre to showcase creative floral displays.
Delivered in partnership with Harrogate BID and Harrogate in Bloom, the annual event aims to celebrate the town’s long-standing reputation for floral excellence.
The competition forms part of a wider summer programme designed to highlight Harrogate’s identity as a leading floral destination.
A Harrogate BID spokesperson said:
“This competition celebrates floral displays across the town centre.
“All styles and sizes are welcome – it’s how you use floral features in your window that counts!”
Entries should ideally include natural plants, although some fabric alternatives are permitted, with plastic flowers discouraged for environmental reasons.
Judging will consider several criteria, including innovation, how displays reflect the nature of the business, quality of the floral elements, cleanliness and overall presentation.
Key dates for this year’s competition include an entry deadline of 19th June, with judging set to take place during the week commencing 22nd June.
Winners will be announced at the Harrogate in Bloom Awards evening on 6th October at Cedar Court Hotel, where the overall winner will receive the McCrindle Trophy.
Last year, the trophy was awarded to Helen James on Station Parade.
Organisers say the competition also supports Harrogate’s entry into the Yorkshire in Bloom Awards, encouraging businesses to contribute to a town-wide floral display throughout the summer months.
