Two firefighters are to set to stop off in the Harrogate district as part of an epic 420-mile running challenge.
North Yorkshire firefighter Jay Taylor and Tyne and Wear firefighter, Robyn Foster, are taking on the 'FireCallRun.'
Over 14 consecutive days, Jay, 47, and Robyn, 28, will cover 420 miles, running from Richmond Fire Station, where Jay works, and Robyn’s former station, to every fire station across North Yorkshire.
They’re raising funds for two vital causes: The Firefighters Charity and VTRN Reset, an organisation supporting veterans’ transition to civilian life.
The challenge, which started at Richmond on Sunday (18th May), saw the pair set off towards Northallerton and Stokesley on their first day.
Their journey will take them to Harrogate on Day 7 (Saturday) and Ripon and Boroughbridge on Day 8 (Sunday).
Other key stops on their fortnight-long challenge including Scarborough, Whitby, York, Skipton, Settle and Hawes.
The duo plan to run an average of 30 miles each day to complete the challenge on time.
They finish each day at a fire station, resting overnight before tackling the next leg of this demanding route.
So far, they’ve enjoyed huge support along the way, including from schools and members of the public, with fellow firefighters joining them for stretches of the run – including Jonathan Dyson, Chief Fire Officer of North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Jonathan, who ran 12 miles with Jay and Robyn from Lythe to Robin Hood’s Bay, said:
“We are immensely proud of Jay, a dedicated firefighter from Richmond, and our former employee Robyn, for undertaking this monumental challenge.
“Running 420 miles to every fire station in North Yorkshire is a testament to their commitment to serving others, both in the fire service and beyond.
“Their determination will undoubtedly inspire many and make a lasting impact on two vital causes. We’ll be cheering them on every step of the way!”

“The Firefighters Charity provides vital support to colleagues and friends facing physical and mental health challenges, even helping one friend create precious family memories during terminal illness.
“As a veteran of the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, I’ve seen the struggles many face when leaving the military.
“VTRN Reset is doing incredible work to address this, and I’m proud to support their efforts.”
