VW Festival is returning to Harewood House for the 20th year this weekend.
Thousands of visitors are expected for the event, which celebrates all things Volkswagen, from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th August.
Known as one of the UK’s largest events for VW enthusiasts, it combines classic car culture with live entertainment, food, music and activities for all ages.
The event will feature more than 250 vehicles on display, ranging from vintage Beetles and camper vans to modern Transporters and modified Golfs.
A key highlight of the weekend is the Show & Shine competition, where owners showcase their meticulously maintained or creatively customised VWs in hopes of winning a prize.
A spokesperson for the event said:
“VW Festival is the show to be at if you love cars, great entertainment and a fantastic atmosphere.
“It’s a chance to make new memories, so what’re you waiting for, join us and help make it the greatest show of the year!”
Each year the festival also adopts a theme, and this year it’s “Stars & Stripes,” with attendees encouraged to dress up or decorate their vehicles in line with the American-inspired concept.
The costume competition takes place on Saturday evening and is open to both adults and children.
The festival site opens to the public from 9am on Saturday and Sunday, with last entry at 4pm on Saturday and 3.30pm on Sunday.
For those camping, the site opens from midday on Friday.
Tickets for the day start from £25 for adults and £10 for children aged 6 to 16, while under-6s go free.
Weekend camping tickets are available from £75 per adult and £20 per child. Entry is free for Harewood House members, though advance booking is required.
Getting there
Visitors are advised that the main Harewood House car park will be closed during the event, and all vehicles will be directed to event parking fields nearby.
Event stewards will be on hand to assist with traffic flow. Buses from Harrogate and Leeds will be running regularly, and attendees are encouraged to arrive early to avoid queues.
Dogs are welcome at the event if kept on a lead, although they are not permitted inside marquees.
Accessible facilities, including toilets and designated parking, are available, and guests with specific access needs are encouraged to contact Harewood House before their visit.
