A Starbeck community café is helping families cut the cost of getting children ready for the new school year with a second-hand uniform shop.
The Joyful Brew at Life Destiny Church will open on selected Thursday mornings during the summer holidays, offering good-quality second-hand primary school uniform.
Families are being encouraged to bring along uniform their children have outgrown and swap it for second-hand kit that fits.
A wide range of items will be available, including trousers, dresses and coats, with organisers also appealing for donations to help keep the shop well stocked.
Sarah Khanye from The Joyful Brew said:
“The Joyful Brew is helping you save your summer holiday pennies for making memories!
"Come and see us get the kids kitted out - and top up the snacks.”
The initiative is part of The Joyful Brew's summer support for local families while its café is closed for the school holidays.
The remaining summer sessions will take place from 10.30am until 12.30pm on Thursday 20th August and Thursday 27th August.
Alongside the uniform shop, its community pantry will be open for families looking to top up their summer snacks while takeaway drinks will also be available to help keep the café's coffee machine ticking over.
The foodbank will be available between 10.30am and 12.30pm. Visitors are ideally asked to bring a foodbank voucher, although the team said it will do its best to support anyone who is in need of help.
The Joyful Brew café itself is closed over the summer holidays and is due to fully reopen on Wednesday 9th September.
