A number of Ripon students are to swim the distance from Yorkshire to India in the school pool.
Eleven pupils at Ripon Grammar School embarking on a World Challenge trip to northern India in 2025.
They're preparing to swim 4,253 metres over 213 lengths on November 8th to raise money towards the adventure of a lifetime.
Organiser Neve Dowding Dykes, 15, said:
“We’re raising money for a once-in-a-lifetime experience to northern India with a team from RGS.
“On the trip we will learn about the local culture, volunteer at a school and learn key life skills.
“We each have to raise £4,995, so any contributions will be greatly appreciated.
“So far, I’ve been working hard selling home-made cookies at school every week from my home-made box.
"I'm putting all the earnings from my paper round towards the trip. And I have been crafting bracelets and macrame keyrings to sell at Christmas fairs.”
The other team members are: Francesca Lindsay, Lola Maybank, William Renton, Amelia Briggs, Henry Pitt, Anson Fong, Zara Ali, Beatrice Webster, Aria Writer and Martha Jones.
