Partnership including Harrogate College secures £2.5m for new technology Harrogate College is among seven learning providers to secure £2.5 million of Government funding to bring capital and revenue investment in new technologies to the area. The partnership, led by York College and University Centre, will use the funds to invest in cutting-edge equipment, deliver innovative training and design new courses, focusing on digital technologies and the health and social care industry. The projects are in response to the needs of businesses and addressing skills gaps in the local workforce, as highlighted in the York & North Yorkshire Local Skills Improvement Plan. The Digital Technology project aims to bring exciting and rapidly-advancing virtual reality and immersive technology to the district, enabling people to get the skills they need for jobs in York and North Yorkshire’s current and future workforce. The Health and Social Care project, meanwhile, will invest in state-of-the-art, mock learning facilities and improvements to college ward settings. Facilities will include digitally- enabled mannequins that simulate the human body and allow students of all ages to gain much-needed clinical skills.
