Nidderdale Walk raises £30,000 for local charities

The Rotary Club of Harrogate held a presentation for charities supported by the Nidderdale Walk.

This year's Nidderdale Walk raised over £30,000 for local charities, organisers have revealed.

The 31st annual Walk was held on 18th May and saw participants take on one of six routes of varying lengths, starting in Pateley Bridge.

Around 460 walkers took part to fundraise for their own worthwhile causes, building on the £31,000 raised last year.

More than £1 million has been raised for charities as part of the Nidderdale Walk since it began in 1994.

Seventeen charities that supported the event were awarded a donation from organisers Rotary Club of Harrogate at a special presentation.

A spokesperson for the club said:

“A big thank-you to all the walkers, runners and volunteers who made the event the success that it was.”

The presentation event was attended by Lyndsay Snodgrass of Verity Frearson, who supported the event, as well as representatives from seven charities.

These included the 3rd Harrogate Scouts and members of Zero Carbon Harrogate, who were just two of the many groups taking part.
