Seven hundred and forty two people took part in the Harmony Energy, Run Harrogate 10K yesterday, with the event now in its fifth year.
More than 700 people take part in multi-terrain Harrogate 10km run More than seven hundred people took part in the Harmony Energy, Run Harrogate 10K yesterday (Sunday), with the event now in its fifth year. The multi-terrain course starts and ends at Harrogate Sports and Fitness Centre, following a course around Crimple Valley. There was also a kids fun run which took place before the 10k, with children in school years 2-5 completing 1.3 km and years 6-9 completing 2.5 km. And Olympic duathlete and triathlete Jonny Brownlee was on hand to dish out the prizes. Speaking about the event, he told Your Harrogate:
"It’s absolutely brilliant. I’m a big fan of getting people active and seeing people here on a Sunday morning in Harrogate, running a 10k for all different reasons and causes, it’s absolutely amazing. "It’s a great event and it’s great to be here!"[caption id="attachment_69105" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Your Harrogate's Pete Egerton alongside Olympian Jonny Brownlee and Jack Kelly from Harmony Energy at the Harrogate 10km.[/caption] Ben Douglas, who runs for Leeds City Athletic Club, was the fastest man, clocking in at thirty four minutes and two seconds Rebecca Flaherty of Bingley Harriers, who finished in thirty seven minutes and fourteen seconds, was the fastest lady. Speaking about meeting Jonny Brownlee, she said:
“I go to Bradford Grammar School which is where he went to school and I ran for Bingley Harriers, which was his club!
