Knaresborough's town criers won top honours at the recent regional Town Crier Competition.
Mark Hunter and his consort Andrea attended the event in Lancashire which drew criers from across the North of England.
The competition featured a themed “cry” on the subject of “Lancashire, the geographic centre of the British Isles.”
The theme prompted some light-hearted rivalry between the Yorkshire and Lancashire participants, with Knaresborough ultimately emerging as the overall winner.
Mark and Andrea’s performance secured first place, with Kev Ruane from Southport taking second and Elizabeth Anderson-Watson from Barnoldswick finishing third.

Hilary McGrath from Garstang was named the people’s champion.
A spokesperson for business group Knaresborough Chamber said:
“A huge well done to our amazing Town Crier team for representing Knaresborough so brilliantly.”
The Knaresborough criers thanked event organiser Rawden Kerr and his team for hosting what they described as a friendly and enjoyable competition.
They also expressed appreciation to The Waugh Trust, via The Rotary Club of Knaresborough, for providing a grant to support Knaresborough’s participation in future competitions.
