Harrogate's Slingsby Gin celebrates eighth birthday Harrogate’s Slingsby Gin celebrated its eighth birthday yesterday (Thursday). The business was founded by owners Marcus Black and Mike Carthy, who launched ‘The Spirit of Harrogate’ in 2015. The shop on Harrogate's Montpellier Quarter now provides seven different gin flavours alongside spirits, premixed cans and gifts. And on Slingsby's eighth birthday, owners Marcus and Mike took to social media to thank customers and the Harrogate community for their support over the years. Marcus and Mike said:
“Time flies when you're having fun! It's been an incredible journey and we wanted to thank you for all your support. “From everyone involved in launching Slingsby all those years ago to all you lot for getting behind us and showing us the love. “Without you, we wouldn't be where we are today. A heartfelt thanks goes to each and everyone of you.”Marcus and Mike were inspired by the story of William Slingsby, who discovered the unique properties of the natural spring water from Harrogate’s Tewit Well in 1571. The waters brought thousands of visitors to Harrogate, as it was thought to have medicinal properties. ‘Spirit of Harrogate’ was launched to create a product - Slingsby Gin - that was synonymous with Harrogate's spa town heritage. It took over 15 months and 18 different variants of gin before they decided on the perfect recipe. Find out more about Slingsby Gin and visit their online shop here.
