There's a new man in charge at Rotary Club of Harrogate.
Monday night (1st July) saw the handover from President Mervyn Darby to incoming President Chris Whapples.
In his introductory address, Chris vowed to carry on the good work carried out by the club and announced that his two presidential charities would be in the support of young people.
His chosen charities for this year are Young Minds and Railway Children.
The club has supported Young Minds in the past and Chris firmly believes that we should continue this support.
Working alongside the British Transport Police (BTP) and the rail industry through their ‘Safeguarding on Transport’ program, Railway Children supports children and young people found in and around the rail network.
They provide specialist training in how to recognise vulnerability and how to respond effectively through social media.
Chris promised an enjoyable and fruitful year with plenty to do.
The Rotary Club of Harrogate meets every Monday at 5.30 at the Ascot House Hotel.
