The completion date for roadworks associated with Harrogate's new Tesco store has been delayed until December.
The new store on Skipton Road is expected to be completed by 4th December, according to confirmation received from the highways team at North Yorkshire Council.
The Council "fully expects the road to reopen from this date" ahead of the start of Harrogate's Christmas market.
The scheme - which includes widening Skipton Road, surfacing works, junction alterations and a temporary one-way system to allow for the development of the store and its access - began in August and was originally planned to last around ten weeks.
However, progress has been subject to repeated delays and adjustments.

The highways team has acknowledged that the start of the town’s festive events - the Harrogate Christmas Fayre, which begins on 5th December - makes the 4th December completion date “a critical completion date”.
In addition to the existing one-way traffic arrangements on Skipton Road, the highways team has confirmed there will be full road closures between 6:30pm and midnight this evening and on 25th, 26th, 27th November and 3rd December.
These closures will affect Skipton Road itself, Harewood Road and the roundabout with the A61.
Access to Harrogate Retail Park will still be maintained. Noisy activities will cease by 11 pm each night that closures apply.
Local MP Tom Gordon responded to the update. He said:
"We have heard similar assurances from North Yorkshire Council before, without meaningful action. These roadworks, which have caused significant disruption, began in August and were originally planned to last ten weeks. Instead, we have seen repeated delays, including the missed Christmas embargo of 23rd November – a further failure by the Council."
Tom's comments echo earlier concerns he raised about prolonged noise, extended working hours and planning breaches at the site.
