Wetherby will be hosting a Brass band marching contest as part of 'Drover's Day' to celebrate the area's historic connection to cattle droving.

The event takes place from 11am-5pm on Saturday (1st July) to celebrate the area’s historic connection to call droving. Activities will include musicians, history talks, face painting and an indoor market. And the entertainment continues at Wetherby Bandstand at 4pm where the marching band competition will take place. [caption id="attachment_68430" align="aligncenter" width="908"] Bands will compete on Wetherby's Drover's Day on Saturday.[/caption] The competitors will be marked on their deportment as they march through the town by Rob Stewart, Company Sergeant Major from Harrogate’s Army Foundation College. Tewit Silver Band will be performing on the bandstand from 1.30pm-3.30pm, whilst a host of activities taking place at Crossley Street Primary School from 2pm. Entry is free and supporters can choose to watch the bands on the march or bring a chair and take a seat at the popular bandstand next to the River Wharfe.
