Yorkshire Water have announced they will be delaying roadworks in Harrogate until the new year.
The service had vowed to spend £1.8 million to improve 1.2km’s of pipes in the Harrogate area.
The work, which would see clean water pipes installed, was due to start on 26th August.
However Yorkshire Water has postponed the works to keep disruption to a minimum and to avoid “overlapping” with other works in the area.
Ripon Road, Swan Road, Crescent Road, Montpellier Mews, Montpellier Parade, Cambridge Street, The Prince of Wales Roundabout and Back Granville Road were set to be affected.
In a letter to residents, a spokesperson said:
“We’ve been liaising with North Yorkshire Council and have agreed that this work will be delayed until the new year.
“This is because there has been a lot of works in Harrogate recently.
“Delaying our works means we will not overlap with other contractors.”
The works are expected to take around 6 months to complete.
When the works do take place in 2026, normal working hours will be 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
Access to driveways and off-street parking will be maintained but on street parking will be restricted.
Bin collections will not be affected and water supply may be affected for a short time in some areas.
