Essential electrical works are due to start on Harrogate's James Street next month.
Northern Power Grid has notified residents of potentially disruptive works to reduce “unplanned power cuts” in Harrogate Town Centre.
Phase one will take place for five days between Monday 5th and Friday 9th August.
The works will include excavation on James Street, which will be surrounded by safety barriers.
Sue Ferguson, Scheme communications and engagement lead for Northern Power Grid, said:
“We are carrying out work to the network to improve its reliability, this will reduce the likelihood of unplanned power cuts in your area.
“We do not plan to disrupt your electricity supply as part of these works or require access to your property.
“However, if we do this will be kept to a minimum to avoid as much disruption as possible, we will be in touch if this is to happen.”
Phase two, expected to last for 10 days, will happen at a later date.
Work will take place directly outside properties along James Street and Princes Street.
Sue Ferguson said:
“Unfortunately, the pay and display parking will be suspended over the course of these works, and we kindly ask that alternative parking arrangements are made to enable the work to be completed as quickly and as safely as possible.
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout.
Sue added:
“We understand that this work will impact the local community and cause noise and disruption; however, we will do everything possible to minimise the impact on residents.
“We will ensure works are reinstated to local authority specifications and we are committed to leaving the area where we have worked clean and tidy, before we clear the site.”
