JD Wetherspoons will be opening in Wetherby after a dramatic U-turn on redevelopment plans.
The pub chain will be replacing the building formerly occupied by Italian restaurant Sant’ Angelo.
Wetherspoons acquired the business in October 2022 - but put it on the market in August 2023.
At the time, it announced that plans would not go ahead to redevelop the building due to “commercial reasons” including rising costs.
However Wetherspoons has performed a dramatic U-turn and will proceed with the £2.25m redevelopment scheme.
Wetherspoons spokesman Eddie Gershon said:
"The company has decided to develop its site in Wetherby into one of its pubs.
"This is subject to planning and licensing approval."
The company currently has 814 venues, but said it has the “potential” to reach 1,000 sites across the UK.
