Thousands expected for Autumn Flower Show's 50th anniversary

Harrogate's Autumn Flower Show is back next month.

More than 30,000 visitors are expected at Newby Hall as the Harrogate Autumn Flower Show celebrates its 50th anniversary.

The event will return from Friday 18th to Sunday 20th September, featuring floral displays, fruit and vegetable competitions and live demonstrations.

First held in Harrogate in 1976, the show moved to Newby Hall five years ago.

Anniversary celebrations will include a new installation inside the historic house by floral designer and television gardening expert Jonathan Moseley.

Entitled Grain & Grandeur – The Harvest Ball, it will transform Newby Hall’s interiors with displays inspired by the autumn harvest.

Celebrity chef Stephanie Moon will also create a series of seasonal dishes inspired by the 1970s in one of Newby Hall’s kitchen gardens, which is being opened especially for the anniversary.

Stuart Gill, Commercial Director at Newby Hall, said:

“This unique collaboration provides the ultimate Yorkshire day out with something for all the family, giving visitors the opportunity to combine the very best in seasonal horticulture with heritage and family-friendly experiences in one of Yorkshire’s most spectacular settings.”

Tickets include admission to Newby Hall, its 25 acres of gardens, adventure playground, miniature railway and permanent exhibitions.

Advance tickets cost £24 for adults, rising to £29 after Wednesday 2nd September. Children under 16 and carers can attend free of charge.
