St Aidan's students celebrate 'impressive' A-level results Students from the Associated Sixth Form at St Aidan's CE High School have been praised for their 'impressive' A-level results after their studies were disrupted by the pandemic. Teachers at the school have commended students collecting their "impressive" results yesterday (Thursday). These pupils did not sit their GCSE examinations due to covid restrictions. A spokesperson for St Aidan's said:
"This cohort of students were greatly disrupted by the pandemic and did not have the opportunity to sit GCSE examinations and therefore faced huge pressure in the summer. "This was compounded by Ofqual's decision to demand a return to pre-pandemic outcomes with no protection of grades. "In this context we are very proud of each and every one of our students. We are delighted that outcomes are in line with those of 2019, despite the extra challenges these students have faced."[caption id="attachment_75446" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] St Aidan's students are celebrating their exam results.[/caption] A large majority of the school's students are taking up places in higher education, with around 90% of university applicants having secured places at their first or second choice university. Amongst the employment highlights are students taking up positions at Sandhurst, in civil engineering and in project management. The spokesperson added:
"The diversity of courses and other pathways students are progressing to reflects the amazing opportunities they have taken advantage of during their time in our Sixth Form. "We would like to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our students, staff and the support they have received from parents and carers to achieve these outcomes. "We wish all our Year 13 students the very best and we look forward to hearing about their future successes."Read more local stories from Your Harrogate here.
