Ready, steady, grow for Harrogate in Bloom

Floral organisation Harrogate in Bloom has launched a range of annual competitions across the town - and it couldn't be easier to get involved.

Celebrating Harrogate’s status as a renowned ‘floral town’, the group is hoping to encourage a wide range of entries from businesses, schools and groups alike.

The Children’s Art Competition returns, with this year’s ‘250 years of the USA’ challenging those between the ages of seven and eleven to design a flower bed.

The winning entrant will see their design recreated at the main entrance of Valley Gardens next summer.

Meanwhile, the School Garden Competition offers all schools, both primary and secondary across the town, the opportunity to showcase their green fingers and to highlight the value which gardening brings to all ages.

Alongside the competition trophy, the winning school will also receive a hamper of gardening goodies, courtesy of Harrogate Flower Shows.

The Harrogate in Bloom Awards are back for pubs, restaurants, hotels, residential communities and communal spaces to showcase their floral abilities.

Developed to support and encourage commercial, leisure and community engagement through the value of horticulture, the team is looking for the very best in floral content across the town.

President of Harrogate in Bloom, Pam Grant, said:

“The value of gardens and greenery has never been so important to our lives and surroundings as it is today.

“Harrogate in Bloom hopes to encourage as wide a range of entrants as possible to our competitions this year, maximising the joy that plants and flowers can bring for residents and visitors alike.”

The 2025 results will be announced at the Harrogate in Bloom Awards evening on 8th October at The Cedar Court Hotel.
