Over the weekend, environmental activists, Extinction Rebellion gathered in Harrogate to protest the upcoming factory expansion into Rotary Wood.
Extinction Rebellion are a non-government organisation
'who care deeply about the future of our planet, all human beings, and all living things.'
Extinction Rebellion began in 2018 with a declaration of rebellion which led to 10,000 people protesting on the streets of London in 2019 and parliament declaring a climate emergency.
XR is now a global movement, made up of 1080 national, regional and local groups of people who want urgent action to stop carbon emissions and protect the natural world.
Their recent movement in Harrogate was in reaction to the proposed expansion of Harrogate Spring Water's factory into Rotary Wood after their planning was granted in 2017.
The protesters were seen marching through Harrogate Town Centre and Valley Gardens yesterday afternoon holding a save Rotary Wood sign.
