North Yorkshire Police will host a family-friendly community event in Harrogate next week.
As part of the force’s Safer Streets initiative aimed at reducing crime and antisocial behaviour, officers will be in Valley Gardens on Wednesday 30th July.
Running from 10am to 3pm, the event is organised by the local Neighbourhood Policing Team and will offer a range of interactive activities and crime prevention advice for all ages.
Topics covered will include road safety, online safety, burglary and fraud prevention, as well as retail and wildlife crime.
Children will also have the chance to have their fingerprints taken in a fun, educational setting.
The event will also feature the North Yorkshire Police dog unit, including the team’s newest puppy, and provide an opportunity for the public to engage with officers and partner agencies.
Inspector Greg Davies said:
“Summer is a busy and exciting time for everyone. We want to make sure we’re doing everything we can so our communities are kept and feel safe.
“The event is an opportunity to listen to our communities about what’s important to them and what’s happening in their area.
“We will also offer preventative advice to reduce crime and ASB, as well as the ways in which our communities can keep updated on what’s happening in their area, including North Yorkshire Community Messaging.”
In addition to police representatives, the event will include staff from the Community Safety Hub, North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, HM Coastguard Water Safety, and the Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association (UWFRA).
Police recruiters will also be on hand to speak with those interested in a career in law enforcement.
The event is open to all, and attendees can sign up for North Yorkshire Community Messaging to receive local crime alerts and community updates via email or text.
