Officers sleep at Harrogate police station during snow to be ready for duty

Harrogate police officers chose to stay at the station to ensure they were ready for duty.

Police officers showed their commitment to their duty by staying at Harrogate station during the snowy weather in order to make their next shift.

Officers grabbed sleeping blankets and cushions on Saturday night (4th January) as conditions worsened across the county.

In some cases it would prove dangerous to attempt to drive home, and so a number of officers chose to stay to ensure they were ready to “step back on duty” for their next shift.

A police spokesperson said:

“Their selflessness and dedication highlight the unwavering commitment of our police officers to serve and protect, no matter the challenges.”

Officers are on duty across the county and City of York to keep residents safe during the adverse weather conditions.
