The country house near Ripon sits on the River Ure, which has seen water levels rise during the storm. And floods caused by heavy rainfall have left Newby’s miniature railway tracks completely submerged. The railway tracks run parallel to the river in the shape of a dumb-bell loop. Newby released a video on its social media this morning showing the extent of the flooding. It said:
“The River Ure is so high this morning it’s completely covered our railway. The Ure is one of many rivers that drain the Dales into the River Ouse.”The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the Harrogate district which will be in place until 12pm Wednesday (24th January).
