The Lost River ride at Flamingo Land Resort is set for a major refurbishment ahead of some new additions at the theme park and zoo.
Iconic Flamingo Land ride set for major refurb A much-loved ride at Flamingo Land Resort is set for a major refurbishment. The Lost River ride has been closed since October and some parts have since been removed, leaving visitors to speculate about its future. But thrill-seekers needn’t worry about losing the much-loved water ride, as it’s simply undergoing a “refresh” ahead of some exciting new additions to the park near Kirby Misperton. The park has revealed it is hoping to reopen the Lost River ride later this year - alongside a brand new animal exhibit. Ross Snipp, Park Executive, told Your Harrogate:
“We’ve got an exciting development that we started this Winter and, fingers crossed, it’ll be coming later this year. “As it stands, the Lost River ride is gone, it’s missing - but it’s coming back. “It’s getting a refurb and a refresh, and it’s going to have some exciting new additions that we believe will make it one-of-a-kind in the UK. “It will still be a water-based boat journey, but with an exciting storyline and new elements that will be unique.”The ride will circle a brand new animal exhibit as the park plans to unveil four cape fur seals to visitors. This rare type of sea lion cannot be seen elsewhere in the UK. Ross added:
“This is the last summer of the sea lion show as we know it. "We have got a brand new sea lion exhibit that we’re developing for cape fur seals - a brand new type of sea lion that you can’t see anywhere else in the UK, exclusive to Flamingo Land. “They’re already here, we’re already looking after them, and we are building a world class habitat for those cape fur seals."[caption id="attachment_105819" align="aligncenter" width="960"] Cape fur seals are coming to Flamingo Land Resort.[/caption] Cape fur seals are found on the coastline of Southern Africa. It's the only place in the world they can be found in the wild. Ross said:
“The new Lost River ride will circle around their new habitat. You’ll be able to see them underwater in their three separate pools. “We’ll still be doing sea lion presentations - but not shows as people may have seen.
