Harrogate horticultural charity Horticap is hosting a raffle to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
The charity held a birthday celebration earlier this month, attended by TV gardener and Horticap patron Alan Titchmarsh.
Horticap was created in 1984 to provide adults with learning disabilities training in horticulture, allied crafts and rural skills.
And as they continue to feature at the Harrogate Spring Flower Show, which runs until Sunday, Horticap are signposting visitors to their ‘grand raffle’ with some huge prizes up for grabs.
A spokesperson for the charity said:
“Thank you for your support as we celebrate together.
“Whilst Horticap needs to raise funds every year to ensure our students can enjoy and benefit from a wide range of activities, many of our events including this raffle are aimed at raising additional funds needed to improve some of our student's facilities.
“Our aim is to raise £400,000 to fulfil this ambition and by supporting this raffle you are helping us to reach this goal!”
The money raised will go towards a replacement for the charity’s original wooden building which is now 40 years old.
The spokesperson added:
“This will provide much needed improvements to our toilets and cloakroom, giving our students a comfortable, clean and welcoming area to get ready, wait for transport and keep their belongings dry and clean.”
Raffle prizes include a £250 M&S voucher, an overnight stay with breakfast and spa at the 5* Grand in York and a years supply of Yorkshire Tea.
Tickets are £1 each and the raffle will be drawn on the 5th July at 7pm.
