Harrogate Theatre to launch unique pantomime horse race

Harrogate Theatre and Ripon Races are hosting a panto horse race in August. (Yes, we know it's a cow!)

Harrogate Theatre has teamed up with Ripon Races to launch a unique racing event this summer.

As part of its fundraising efforts for its 125th birthday, the Theatre is inviting people to take part in an iconic pantomime horse race at the racecourse on Monday 4th August.

Willing participants will be provided with a horse costume as part on the sponsored race, which is the first of its kind.

The event comes as part of Harrogate Theatre’s bid to raise £125,000 throughout the year.

Natalie Rawel, Harrogate Theatre’s Head of Marketing and Development, said:

“We’re looking for businesses, running groups, theatre fans, bucket list experience hunters and more to sign up to join us on the start line as we race to raise as much as we can for Harrogate Theatre.

“We’ll provide the costume, you can rock/paper/scissors for who’s at which end!”

She added:

“This year Harrogate Theatre is celebrating being 125 years young and we’re aiming to raise £125,000 across the year to support everything we do from bringing world class talent to Harrogate, to working with young people to spark imaginations.”

If you’re interested in putting your best hoof forward, Harrogate Theatre is hosting a launch event on Friday 25th April at 2pm to provide more information.
